At the age of eight, Jamie fell in love with cooking and decided that he would connect his life with it. Today he is known not only as a famous chef but also as the author of many books, a famous TV host, and a person that inspires many people to culinary experiments.

Best Ways to Make Baked Potatoes

For some people baking potatoes may seem like an easy task, but in reality, you need to follow several rules to make perfectly cooked veggies that still maintain their shape. Here is the tip from Jamie Oliver on how to bake perfect potatoes every time.

Preparation

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 °F (200 °C).
  2. Thoroughly wash the potatoes and pat them dry using paper towels.
  3. Pierce all the potatoes with a fork. Place the veggies in a large mixing bowl, add some olive oil, and additional seasoning if preferred. Thoroughly mix everything.
  4. Place the potatoes onto a baking sheet. Cook in the oven for an hour.

This way your potatoes will always turn out fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Now let the potatoes cool and let’s move on to more creative recipes with these.

Stuffed Potato Skins

This one is perfect as a side dish for a family dinner or as a snack for a big party.

Ingredients

  • 3 potatoes
  • 14 oz (400 g) canned tomatoes
  • 3 ½ oz (100 g) hard cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 bunch basil
  • salt to taste
  • ground black pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Follow the recipe above to make baked potatoes.
  2. Heat some olive oil in a skillet. Add in crushed garlic. Saute for a couple of minutes. Add in chopped basil and canned tomatoes. Use a spatula to mash the tomatoes. Season the sauce.
  3. Bring the sauce to a boil and remove from the heat.
  4. Strain the sauce and bring it to a boil once again. Cook over low heat for 5 minutes.
  5. Cut the baked potatoes in half. Take out the fluffy part and stuff the potato skins with the tomato sauce. Top off with the grated cheese.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350 °F (180 °C). Place the stuffed potato skins on a baking sheet and cook until the cheese is melted.

Hasselback Potatoes With Salmon

This comfort food recipe is much more impressive than the previous one but still doesn’t require too much effort. The filling from peas and smoked salmon is quite interesting and unusual which makes it a perfect choice for a special occasion.

Ingredients

  • 3 potatoes
  • 5 ¼ oz (150 g) green peas
  • 3 ½ oz (100 g) smoked salmon
  • 3 ½ oz (100 g) cheese
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 tbsp plain yogurt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 bunch scallions
  • salt to taste
  • ground black pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Bake your potatoes in the same way we did in the previous recipe.
  2. Heat some olive oil in a skillet. Add in chopped garlic. Saute for a couple of minutes. Add in mashed peas to your skillet and cook until soft. In the meantime add some water if needed. Season to taste.
  3. Process the ingredients in a blender until smooth.
  4. Add grated cheese to the pea filling and thoroughly mix.
  5. Finally, add previously ground salmon to the filling and mix again.
  6. Slice each potato into thin wedges but leave it joined at the bottom. Stuff the potatoes with the pea and salmon mixture.
  7. Top off the dish with chopped scallions and yogurt.

Garlic Hasselback Potatoes

Don’t be afraid to cook with garlic, as it can add bold taste to your meals and help you step up your cooking game. This Hasselback potato recipe is perfect for those times when you don’t have many ingredients in the kitchen, but need to make something truly delicious.

Ingredients

  • 2 lb (1 kg) potatoes
  • 3 ⅓ tbsp (50 ml) olive oil
  • 6 cloves garlic
  • salt to taste
  • ground black pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Bake the potatoes following the instructions at the beginning of the article.
  2. Slice each potato into thin wedges but leave it joined at the bottom.
  3. Stuff the potatoes with minced garlic.
  4. Drizzle the veggies with some olive oil.
  5. Season the dish to your taste.
  6. Bake at 325 °F (160 °C) for 15 minutes.

These simple and delicious baked potatoes can be a perfect side for any occasion and will satisfy even the pickiest eater. Now you can see that impressive and tasty recipes don’t necessarily take a lot of effort and time.
